Oilpressure Takes A Mid-Summer Break

I’ve normally taken a break from this site at some point during the mid-season. Last year I took a week and a half away. I’m not doing that this time – mainly because I lost track of the calendar. Had I been looking earlier at opportunities to rest up, I would have done it Wednesday, but then I felt compelled to write about the bad 2012 Indianapolis 500 logo.

There is no IndyCar race this weekend. After this off-weekend, there are three races in the next four weekends – so I thought I’d better get a break while I could. With that in mind, I’ll take off today (I’m not sure that two short paragraphs count as a post) and I’ll not post anything on Monday. I’ll return Wednesday August 3, hopefully well-rested and maybe with a new outlook. I think my posts have had more of a negative slant than I like,  lately. That tells me I need a break to recharge the batteries a little bit. So with that being said, I hope everyone enjoys the Brickyard 400, has a nice weekend and I’ll be back here next Wednesday.

  5. You think Donald Davidson takes a week off, George? Roger Penske hasn’t had a week off since 1959. And AJ clears 400 acres of brush with a bulldozer while still wearing his hospital gown on his “week off.”

      George, enjoy time away from the keyboard. You ‘earned it.’ BTW, I won’t watch the NASCRAP 400. Wrestling-on-wheels is antithetical to what I cherish.

    Since you have left the room George, perhaps we can just talk amongst ourselves. Does anyone have any idea of what the new engines will sound like? For me, the sound and fury of the engines is a big part of the attraction of racing f. The Novi and the Ford GT40 being two of my favorites) I am hoping for something a bit grittier than the current Hondas; kind of like a person who has smoked Camel straights for 40 years would sound like. Something that will shake the pigeon dust off the grandstand rafters.
