Day Two of the Open Test

Good morning from a damp Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It rained overnight as was expected; but I think the hope was that the track would be dry by 10:00 am, It wasn’t. It is now 11:15 am as I type and the first few cars have now taken they track. The new schedule is as follows: 11:15 to 1:15 all eligible cars; 1:15 to 2:15 Katherine Legge Refresher; 2:15 to 5:00 all eligible cars.

As I type, many more cars are hitting the track. Currently, twenty-two cars have already taken laps.

I ate at Dawson’s last night, and I’m sorry to say they were a little off their game last night. My tenderloin lacked seasoning, the bun was stale and my fries were way overcooked (almost burned), but cold. I have since been told that Monday and Tuesday nights are good nights to avoid there. That’s a shame when Im only in town one night. I can overlook one bad night, but I hope that’s not a precursor to the Month of May.

On the other hand, with the rain delay – I joined a friend of mine for a very leisurely and enjoyable breakfast at Charlie Brown’s. They were on their game, and it was so nice to park in their lot, walk in and immediately be seated. I’m sure I’ll be back for a few more visits in May.

One thing I forgot to mention was that I found our brick in the Pagoda Plaza. If you’ll recall, Susan and I gave a commemorative brick to each other for Christmas, along with a replica to display at home. It is on the far southern edge of the Plaza, in front of the grab-n-go store next to the Alley Cat concession stand (if it’s still called that).

The sun is now out, and it looks like it will be another beautiful day at the track. There is currently a track inspection going on, so it’s a good time to head out. I will be back here late afternoon for a final wrap-up. Please check back later.
