Welcome to Music City!

Good morning, from a surprisingly sunny and dry Nashville Superspeedway. I left the house around 7:30 this morning, and it was sprinkling as I pulled out of our driveway. I stopped by the hospital to visit Mrs.Oilpressure before heading to the track. It was cloudy, but the streets were wet as I headed east. As I got closer to the track, the skies kept improving.

Susan has now been officially ruled out for the weekend. She is progressing well and has had no setbacks, but because it’s the weekend – they are going to hold her until Monday. She’s bummed, but after I saw a 5-6 inch incision on her belly Wednesday night, I figured she would be still be there all weekend.

By the time I said hi to people, got settled and fired up my computer, practice had already started, but it’s one and a half hour practice session.

As I was typing, Nolan Seigel hit the outside wall coming out of Turn Four. He is fine, but it was a hard hit. It was so hard, he damaged the SAFER barrier. The repairs are still going on, so I am going to head to the pits and take in practice.

Given the condensed schedule, I am unsure when I will be back here to post. It’s possible I may be here midday, but I’ll definitely be back here after the final practice at the end of the afternoon – weather permitting.

Please check back later, and keep fingers crossed that we have seen the end of what was Hurricane Francine.
