Milwaukee Mile–Day 2

geothumbnail10
Good Morning from The Milwaukee Mile. It is a beautiful 69° morning with hardly a cloud in the sky. For a Friday, the crowd was decent yesterday, but things are buzzing quite a bit more this morning. We are still an hour and a half away from Indy NXT qualifying, and qualifying for the NTT IndyCar Series begins at 1:15 pm local time (CDT). It will be shown on Peacock.

Remember, today’s IndyCar race will be shown exclusively on Peacock. Tomorrow’s race will be shown on USA Network (and Peacock). Today’s race broadcast begins at 4:40 pm CDT and the green flag flies around 5:00 pm CDT.

Several people have told us to check out the legendary cream puffs at this track. I’m not sure I’ve ever had a cream puff, but Susan seemed enthralled with the idea of them. She looked for them all over the track yesterday, and never found them. When we left the track last night, we saw the Cream Puff Pavilion as part of the Wisconsin State Fair complex. Unfortunately, we learned this morning that they are not going to be available for this race weekend. Too bad – I was getting curious about them, after hearing everyone raving about them.

We are going to roam the paddock and then grab a bite to eat, before IndyCar qualifying. Susan has a post that will drop in here around Noon CDT. Be sure and check it out. I will probably be back here before the race – it depends on what we get into between qualifying and the race. If not, I will have a quick race recap here this evening after tonight’s race. Please check back later for Susan’s post around Noonish.

  1. But there are also two Cream Puffs To-Go satellite locations on either end of the grounds on Grandstand Avenue.

Wisconsin State Fair cream puffs are $5 each, three for $14, or six for $25

Aggie’s Bakery in West Allis says they make them & are close to the track. Maybe call them & ask if they will have them Sunday. 7328 W Greenfield Ave, West Allis, WI 53214

Pretty much anywhere in Milwaukee / WI area they all taste the same. When they make them during State Fair its from the Wisconsin Baker’s association which is a culmination of all the bakeries around here so they all have the recipe.
