Another Race Morning at Iowa
Good morning from an already balmy Iowa Speedway. The weather forecasts have been spot-on all weekend, so if the accuracy of the weather people continues – that means today will be the hottest day since we got here on Thursday. The high temperature for today is projected to be 94°. Fortunately, the green flag flies at 11:30 am CDT, meaning it will only be around 87° at that time.
If you are not following the IndyCar Weatherman (@Indycar_Wxman) on Twitter, you should. Here is his forecast for today.
This is the first time we have covered a double-header in-person. We attended the double-header at Road America during the COVID year of 2020, but since they weren’t allowing lowly bloggers in the media center that year – we attended strictly as fans and didn’t do anything on the site that weekend. Having a night race last night, we finally arrived at our hotel last night around 11:45 pm CDT. It was tough to drag ourselves out of bed and be here again this morning. Imagine how the teams that had to repair crash damage overnight feel.
Jack Harvey will not drive today due to his injured back. For a brief moment last night, it was reported that Conor Daly would substitute for him last night. However, IndyCar would not allow it since Daly would require a special session to get back up to speed since her has not been in an Indy car in six weeks. Harvey started last night’s race, and then parked it. Daly had a special session at 9:00 this morning and will start the No. 18 today.
Surprisingly, there seems to be a lot more people here today. Maybe it’s just because we got here closer to the green flag than yesterday. We are going to go eat, then it’ll be time to race. I will have a quick wrap-up after the race, then my usual Random Thoughts on Monday. Please check back later.

I really thought that when Jack Harvey parked it yesterday, that Conor would jump right in… Oh Well….
But I’m glad that Conor Daly is filling in today, and I hope Jack’s back gets the rest it needs…. It’s really a shame that Indycar didn’t allow this yesterday. I am very glad that it didn’t result in anything worse than a parked car.
