Welcome to Worldwide Technology Raceway!

Welcome to a rain-soaked Worldwide Technology Raceway, just across the Mississippi River from downtown St. Louis. As I’m sure you are well aware, the track is in an extended rain delay. We left Nashville around 6:30 am, knowing we would not make the opening practice. We were on I-57 at 10:00 am, when I pulled up Peacock to listen to practice, I heard Kevin Lee say it was pouring at the track, and everything was on hold. That actually worked out for us, since we were no longer going to miss any track activity.

As we got closer to the track, the sky started looking like doomsday and the skies opened up. I had a couple of friends at the track that I checked in with, and they told me it was still pouring at the track. We knew time was now on our side, so we checked into our hotel, got settles and then went to grab a bite to eat. We finally arrived at the track today around 1:45 pm to a track that was still having rainfall.

The media center was packed with anyone and everyone associated with the media, just hanging around, staying dry and eating. I was surprised to find our seats undisturbed, even though people were hanging around. This year, our seats are behind the pit of Devlin DeFrancesco.

As you can see, there were no fans in the stands during the steady drizzle. As I type, the rain has almost stopped and there are a few fans starting to show up in the stands.

Right now, we are told to hang tight. I’ve heard a million different possibilities of how to rearrange the schedule, but no official word on anything. Keep in mind, this track is lighted, so they may go late into the night. Stay tuned.

The good news is that the forecast for tomorrow is outstanding – clear skies and a high of only 81°

Please check back in a little bit. Whenever I learn what the plan is here, I’ll post it here.
