Changes at Road America

I have to say I’m exhausted, but I’m still having fun. This year we got a slow golf cart—this is great news for me because George can’t drive like a maniac. I’m still trying to get my stamina back. The steps to the Media Center were daunting last year, this year I can just walk right up, so I’m getting better and I am getting more energy.

George likes to say change is bad, but sometimes it’s a good thing. We noticed some changes this year—my favorite is the Beach! There’s a pathway between the Carousel and the Kink. You go down a path through some woods and there it is. There’s sand, palm trees, and chairs. There’s also a food/drink bus, in case you get hungry or thirsty.

I saw several children playing in the sand. Bring a towel or something to get the sand off because there’s no water for swimming.

Another great thing they did was to mark the turns on the track. I get so confused by the curves of road courses. This will be a great help to me so I don’t get lost. They even have a QR Code for each corner to tell you more than you might even want to know.

There were other little things that the average person might not notice, but it seemed like they have been working hard to make more seating for fans. It looks like that attendance is going to be bigger than usual—just judging from how many people are already here.

I spoke too soon–George was able to drive like a maniac through the grassy hills. An example of what it was like is in this last photo. I’m a survivor.

Really enjoyed this post. And thanks for all the posts this weekend. As a non-golfer I didn’t realize some golf carts are faster than others, lol.
