It’s Race Day at Road America!

It’s Race Day! Good morning from a sunny, and quite pleasant Road America. It was supposed to reach 70° today, but it was already there when we drove in this morning. It will get cloudy later in the day, but no rain is expected. The weather story today will be wind. There will be a stiff wind from the northwest, with gusts up to 25 knots, according to IndyCar Weatherman on Twitter. If you don’t follow him, you should (@IndyCar_Wxman).

As usual, there was a longer line to get through the gates with this being Race Day. With the sun and warmer weather today, there is already a buzz throughout the grounds, even though we are still over four hours from the drop of the green flag.

Susan and I went to our usual Saturday night dinner spot up here; PJ Campbell’s at the Depot in nearby Plymouth. It was great as it always is. We ran into longtime readers of the this site in there – Doug Weglarz and his dad, Ed. Sunday night is always up in the air where we go.

The morning warm-up is at 11:15 CDT (local time) and can be seen live on Peacock. Then the race broadcast gets underway on Big NBC. I don’t think much of a pre-race show is expected, so get ready for the green flag soon afterwards.

Susan is wrapping up her post for the weekend and will put it up shortly this morning, before we go wandering around, taking in the track on our last day here. Check for Susan’s post this morning, and I will be back here after the race with a quick wrap-up, then I’ll have my usual Random Thoughts post here on Monday.
