Welcome to Road America!

Welcome to a sunny, but cool and blustery Road America. It is currently 62°, but there is a very stiff wind out of the west, which makes it very chilly. Since the temperature at home is supposed to be in the 90s today – I’m not complaining. The weather is supposed to be perfect all weekend.

So far, our trip has been perfect. It took us only an hour to get through the main part of Chicago on out drive up yesterday. We pulled out of out driveway at 6:45 am Thursday, and arrived at our hotel in Sheboygan at 5:15 pm.

That gave us enough time to unpack and drive to Elkhart Lake to the big IndyCar Race Weekend kickoff at Siebken’s Resort; where for a $10 demotion – you got a wristband that entitled you to all of the Spotted Cow you wanted. I ended up having only two , but it was still fun. We got to see a lot of people we knew and a good time was had by all.

We got to the track around 9:30 this morning. Our golf cart was waiting on us, and we had out usual seats in the media center, right up against the window, just south of the start/finish line.

The Radical Series cars were on-track when we got here. Now the US Pro 2000 cars are out practicing. IndyCar does not practice until 3:00 pm CDT (local time). We are going to leave the confines of the warm media center and go out and see all of our favorite spots with this massive venue.

We are both thrilled to be here. I will have a wrap-up here this afternoon after the IndyCar practice. I will also report on anything significant that we come across today.
